Heaven gained an angel, our beloved Linda, on the morning of May 3rd, 2017. Linda passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends. The lord called her home after a courageous 12-year battle with stage IV colon cancer.
Linda, the daughter of Ray "Sam" Sampson and Ann Sampson, was born on snowy December 10th, 1956 in Spokane, Washington. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother David Sampson and Aunt Mary Doulas. Linda is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Craig, daughters Stephanie Baird, Mandy Mikelson, Son-In-Law Jeremy Baird, and granddaughter Adalyn.
A Mead High School Class of '75 graduate, Linda had been active in sports and played the accordion. In 1979, she graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. During her time at EWU, Linda held the title of Resident Advisor and Dorm President, which lead to her meeting her future husband Craig.
Linda took great pride in her work as Customer Service Representative at Bank of America, where she ultimately ended her career upon diagnosis of her cancer. She loved her customers and kept in touch with many after leaving the banking industry.
Family and friends were always a priority to Linda as she cherished the time she spent with them. She enjoyed bowling, crafting, volunteering, and shopping, especially at Macy's. Linda was an assistant Girl Scout leader, softball coach, classroom volunteer, PTA officer and an active participant and fundraiser for the Relay for Life. She had a love for Disney and could not wait to take her granddaughter to meet Minnie Mouse. Nana and Adi loved their tea parties and cake pops.
Linda's perseverance was inspirational to all that crossed her path. Her passion for helping others kept her going throughout her 12-year fight against cancer. Her selflessness was admirable, truly one of a kind.
A very heartfelt Thank You to the friends and family for the countless prayers, meals, love and support you have blessed Linda's family with over these past 12 years. Thank you to the staff of Kaiser Permanente, the Cancer Care Northwest team, Dr. Brian Holbrook, the incredible staff at Hospice of Spokane, the staff of Rockwood Imaging and Oncology, Jeanne Robison, Marie Brenden, her doctor, confidant and biggest cheerleader Dr. Corliss Newman, and last but not least, Kelly. You weren't just her CT Tech. You were Linda's "good luck charm", and her guardian angel. She cherished the bond and friendship that you two had.
A Celebration of Linda's Life will take place on Sunday May 21st at 11am at the Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home on 1306 N. Pines, Spokane Valley, WA.
In lieu of flowers, Linda's family asks for donations in Linda's name be made to the American Cancer Society or S.C.R.A.P.S.

Arrangements under the direction of Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home-Pines, Spokane, WA.
