Mary Lou Downhour
Age 88

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 26, 2017. She was born in Spokane, WA on June 18, 1928 and was daughter to Florence and William Haeseler. She attended North Central High School and worked as a switch board operator at the Farragut Naval Base during World War II. She then married Richard Leroy Downhour. Together they resided in Spokane and raised 11 children. They were married 48 years.
Mary Lou was a selfless and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. With them she enjoyed traveling, going to the lake, and photography. She also had a big heart for animals and adopted many dogs throughout her life. Mary Lou was a member of Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church. Her faith in God was important to her.
Mary Lou joins her parents, husband, her brother John, and son William in heaven. She is survived by her children Patricia Brimhall, Peggy Scates, Richard Downhour, Beverly Place, James Downhour, Gerald Downhour, David Downhour, Daniel Downhour, Laurie Massie, and Christine Gaston; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held May 4, 2017, from 9 AM - 1 PM at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N Monroe, Spokane, WA. A graveside service will follow that same day at 2:30 PM at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N Government Way, Spokane, WA, where Mary Lou will be interred alongside her husband.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Mary Lou's name to the Spokane Humane Society.
