Neil D. Prescott, Jr. age 88, passed away early in the evening on Sunday, April 30, 2017, in Yakima, WA. He was born June 23, 1928, in Spokane, WA to Neil D. Prescott, Sr. and Anna K. Prescott. He spent his entire adult life in the Spokane Valley. He married Ramona Jean Compton on August 1st, 1950. They were married for 65 years. She preceded him in death in December 2015.

Neil graduated from John Rogers High School then went on to graduate from Eastern Washington State College with a degree in Education. He worked in the Central Valley School District as a teacher, principle, Asst. Superintendent, and policy consultant from 1950 to February 2014. His teaching career began at the old Vera Elementary School. Neil spent a year and one-half as principal of the Campus School at EWU. He was also in charge of the CVSD night school for almost twenty years.

He was involved in his community in many ways, serving as an elder and leader at Opportunity Presbyterian Church for almost sixty years, and he was once the moderator of the Presbytery of the Inland Northwest. He served on the Township Board of Directors and was a member of the Pines Cemetery Board until the cemetery was sold. For twenty years Neil was the treasurer of the Washington State School Retirees' Association and they award a scholarship each year in his honor to a high school senior majoring in education.

Neil was a kind and gentle man. He was loved and respected by not only his family but by the community also.

He is survived by sister Delores Nettleton, son Jerry (Shelley) Prescott, daughters Julie (Gary) Parkert, and Peggy (Tim) Richards, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held at Opportunity Presbyterian Church on June 10, 2017, 3:00 pm.
